Where You’ll Be Working
Avalon Mechanical has offices in Victoria, Nanaimo, and Vancouver. The Victoria office is situated in a high-performing green building in Esquimalt with large windows, an atrium for natural light and ample bike rack space for commuters.
The Nanaimo office is in Pacific Station, North Nanaimo and has abundant natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows.
The Vancouver office is in the downtown area near Canada Place and the waterfront. It offers easy access to public transportation and parks, large windows, open-concept layouts, meeting spaces, and ergonomic workstations.

Fire Suppression Mechanical Technologist – Victoria, BC

Established in 1984, Avalon Mechanical has grown into an industry recognized Mechanical Engineering Consultancy firm. Specializing in Mechanical Design Systems for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Suppression, we have completed thousands of projects in a range of industries. With offices in Victoria, Nanaimo and Vancouver, our team is growing, and we are looking to add to our complement of skilled and knowledgeable engineering design professionals.
The Position
Avalon Mechanical is currently looking for a Mechanical Technologist to join our team in our Victoria office. The ideal candidate will possess a diploma in Mechanical Technology and be available to start work immediately. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and experience producing construction documents, plans, and calculations for mechanical building systems (fire suppression, plumbing, HVAC) are desired, however all skill levels and experience will be considered. Candidate Requirements:
- Completion of a Mechanical Technology Diploma
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Possess a good attitude and an ambition to learn
Ideal Candidates will possess the following:
- AutoCAD and Revit proficiency
- Experience with MS Office – specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Drafting and design of fire suppression, HVAC, and plumbing systems for renovations and new construction
- Fire suppression hydraulic calculations
