Rene started his career in refrigeration 50 years ago when he took a summer job as an assemblyman in a factory making refrigerators. Intending to pursue an academic career, he earned a BA degree, but graduate school was a disappointment, so he returned to his earlier experience and took a job as a refrigeration mechanic.
He became a co-owner of a refrigeration and air conditioning contracting company, where he learned to design, sell, install, and service commercial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. This led him to a job at a wholesale distributor, where for 25 years he provided technical advice to contractors on design, application, and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Now semi-retired, he specializes in energy modelling and conservation, where he can use his extensive experience with compressors, fans, motors, controls and computer software to predict and reduce energy costs.
